Crowdfunding Basics by Nick Ferris - Part 7

Nick Ferris – An expert in Digital Marketing has always been a huge proponent of using video in marketing.

In fact you can see some of his videos - check out Nick Ferris on Youtube.  Once you have selected your crowdfunding site and are starting to get the page ready, it’s essential to produce a video. In fact the research shows the majority of successful crowdfunders have a video associated with it.

Just like a press release, a video can be very daunting. But don’t worry. There are a number of options and it is easier than ever to do these days. If you have an app for example, with the new iOS 11 you can even do a video of the screen share - it’s that easy! If you want to DIY (do it yourself) you can use your smartphone to either record you speaking and/or show the product. You can then edit it together in a program such as imovie or get a friend to help if that is beyond your skill set.

If you hate the sound of your voice - you can always get a professional voice over. Sites like fiverr.com can give you very affordable voice overs. If you want to outsource the whole thing again sites like fiverr.com and upwork.com can help you through the whole process says Nick Ferris. You simply have to help in terms of the storyboard / text used and if you have already written your press release (see previous article) then you will be half way there as you’ll be using a lot of the same bullet points.

There is no need to spend a fortune on your video. Again, research shows there is no direct correlation between the amount of money spend on a fundraising video and the amount raised. Look at what others have done and find a style you like - that way whether you are doing it yourself or having a third party do it, you have a reference you can share.

Once you have your video - make sure you upload it to all your social channels and if you do not have a YouTube channel, create one!

We want to thank you for reading these articles by Nick Ferris and hope you enjoy them!
